On My Lunch

45 days left today and I will be 34 weeks on Monday!
The Resident's that I provide activities for are having a baby shower for me next Wed. About 65 ladies have already said they were coming. It's going to be fun! :) I can't wait to have Alexa here!

I'm tired and it's raining hard outside. It's about 1:09 and I don't get to leave work until 6. :( I wouldn't mind it so much if I had things to do. I only have one activity going on today and it starts at 5, so until then it's going to be a pretty slow day.

Just thought I'd share

It's Getting Closer

I can't believe it's January already! It's getting closer to my due date and I'm both excited and nervous. Matthew and I registered at Babies R Us the other night and it made me realize how little time we have until our daughter is here. It feels like there is so much to do in just a short amount of time. I only have a month and a half of work left until I go on my maternity leave and I'm very happy about that. It's getting harder to get up out of things and this little girl keeps going under my ribs. It doesn't hurt but its just a lot of pressure when you are sitting down. This pregnancy has been really great. I remember when I was 6 weeks I started getting nauseous and it lasted up until I was about 15 weeks. I only got sick 3 times but for me that was 3 times more than I wanted to get sick. It wasn't until 16 weeks that I really felt like myself. She started kicking and it made me smile every time. Now her kicks feel like punches but I promise for those who haven't experienced it yet it does not hurt. Even though this pregnancy has been great there are a few things I will not miss AT ALL. Running to the bathroom every 20 minutes feeling like I'm about to burst when really it's not much at all, having my legs and feet swell up so much that my shoes leave imprints in them, I can't even wear my wedding ring :( and I think that is all I won't miss. The things I will miss would probably make you read on and on and on so I will only list a few. I will miss the connection I have with her. I love having her kick me and feeling her move inside of me. I love that I can cart her anywhere with me, but basically I know I will miss being pregnant. The things I won't miss is for sure a small price to pay for what I will miss. Matthew and I cannot wait to meet her. I know for sure I will cry when she comes out haha. I know our life is going to change but it's a new chapter in our lives that I can' wait to start. :)

My Dad's Birthday!

For my dad's Dec. 11th birthday I wanted to get him something other than just a shirt like I always do. He told me recently that he wanted to see some of John Wayne's recent films. I looked up John Wayne and went straight to Wikipedia to see if his films were listed, which by the way John Wayne is just his stage name and his real name is Marion Mitchell Morrison. Lets just say I'm glad he had a stage name. As I was scrolling down I saw info about his death and I was interested in how "The Duke" died. It said he died of stomach cancer June 11th 1979. I kept reading and I saw that John Wayne was buried in Corona Del Mar right next to Fashion Island in Newport. I immediately thought I would take my dad to see John Wayne! I looked up where he was buried in the cemetery and that same day (Sunday) I drove down to make sure I was able to find him. It was like I was following a treasure map. It was really fun! Sure enough I found him and I called my dad and told him to keep the next Sunday open because I was taking him to his birthday surprise. His actual birthday was Friday but since he was going to a party and I had to work that night I chose Sunday to show him his gift. I had to wait a whole week to finally show him. John Wayne's info read that his grave was unmarked for 20 years. John Wayne converted to Roman Catholicism shortly before he died and he wanted his tombstone to read
"Feo, Fuerte y Formal", in Spanish epitaph Wayne described as meaning "ugly, strong and dignified". However his grave is marked with his 1971 Playboy interview.
It was finally Sunday and I was so excited to have my dad meet John Wayne. My dad drove and when we turned on the street of the cemetery he started to smile. He had no idea why we were going to a cemetery so he said uhhh did you buy me a plot? Haha my mom and I started laughing our heads off! I showed him where to park and walked him down to the tombstone. Right before we got there I told him to close his eyes. I pulled him forward told him to look down and open. He could not believe it was John Wayne. He was so happy that he gave me a great big bear hug! My mother asked him if he ever thought about wanting to see his tombstone and my dad said he had thought about it a few times, but that he thought he wouldn't be able to find it since it was unmarked. It made my day to see my dad so happy. The whole week he was telling me, "I hope you didn't spend a whole lot of money", but I kept telling him that besides gas it will cost nothing. I also told him to dress kinda nice before we left cause I was going to take his picture, so he was even more concerned when we were driving into a cemetery. After I showed him his gift we went to brunch in Newport then the swap meet then we came home and I watched a few shows with my parents. It was a great day and I could tell my dad enjoyed his gift. He even said he may just come visit "The Duke" every once and a while.
I'm glad you had a great day dad! Happy 48th Birthday!

26 Weeks!

I'm officially 26 weeks today! I can't believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like just yesterday I was finding out that we were going to have a baby! I went to the doctor for my checkup and she said the baby is doing great! Her heartbeat was perfect and my tummy is a great size for how far along I am. I'm feeling great! It's getting harder to turn in bed or to get off the couch and to tie my shoes, but it's all worth it! I'm getting my 4d Ultrasound done in a couple of weeks and Matthew and I can't wait to see what she looks like now! It's so exciting and with every kick I feel she just makes me smile that much more! It's crazy to feel so strongly about someone you have never even met. I love her to pieces already and I can't wait for her to be here in my arms! :)

So we just got home and I really loved this movie! It was way better than the first! I can't wait for Eclipse!

Crochet & Recline

About 2 weeks ago I wanted to learn how to crochet and I thought my first project should be a baby blanket for my daughter. I called my friend Nicole and asked her to come with me to Joann Fabrics because I had no idea what I needed and since she knew how to crochet she could show me how to crochet and what I would need to get started. I bought the yarn and since I didn't know what size of hook I wanted to use I just bought a pack of different sizes for like 6 bucks. We then went back to her house and she showed me how to crochet. It was tough at first because my fingers were not used to the rhythm of how you do it. Then once I got the pattern down it was hard to keep my yarn tight. That is why the first two or three rows at the bottom of this picture ^
are really loose and the rest is nice and tight. By the second day my hands got used to the movement of things and I could not believe how simple and yet time consuming it really is. It feels good to know that I'm actually making something from scratch and that my first thing I make is for my baby. She is the reason why I wanted to learn and I'm surprised that I never thought of this before. I'm a crafty person and for some reason learning how to crochet never popped in my head of things to do. My Grandma Grumbles loved crocheting. I wonder why I never asked her how to do it while she was still here. If I had asked I would have known how to do all this stuff. Last weekend I went to Michael's with my parents and my mom bought me purple yarn and a Learn To Crochet Book. It has a bunch of different designs and I can't wait to try them out. I want to concentrate on one project at a time, so after I'm done with my blanket I'm going to make a bigger blanket for Matthew and I to share. Then maybe I will make some pot holders for our kitchen. I just can't wait to see the outcome!
Just this Monday Matthew and I went to Big Lots. I have been pricing out nursing chairs and my brother and sister-in-law got a nice Glider at Big Lots so I thought I would go to the one right up the street from my apartment. After Matthew got off work we headed over there and saw the same Glider that Aron and Ashley have. I liked it, but this will be going in our living room and Matthew and I didn't think it would look right with our stuff. We looked around and saw a nice cozy recliner and immediately we thought this is the one. It may not be a Glider, but it will look better and it will be more useful in the long run. It rocks and reclines, so that is good enough for me. We call it the nursing /gaming chair. Matthew loves to play his video games and recline at the same time. It's very comfortable! :)

Survivor

Matthew and I so far love this seasons Survivor! In the beginning of the season Matthew and I did not like Russell at all. We thought he was a jerk of a player that would mess everything up on our favorite side, which was the Foa Foa tribe (yellow). After a few episodes he slowly became our favorite after he found the first hidden immunity idol. We could not believe that he found it without any clues! This week we were really nervous for him because he became THE ONE that we would like to see win, but his head was on the chopping block because the old Galu tribe (purple) wanted Russell gone. Fortunately, he changed that all around after he found the second hidden immunity idol without any clues again! We were amazed and felt so good that he found it! This has never been done in Survivor! We were nervous that he may not play it at tribal council, but we also knew that he wasn't stupid to not play it if his name was even mentioned to go. Yet still we were nervous. Once he stood up to give Jeff the idol and we saw the faces of the old Galu tribe, we were thrilled! We were laughing so much and loved that now they had to lose a team member because the old Foa Foa tribe all voted for Kelly. I just had to give a thank you to Russell for making last nights episode so enjoyable to watch! :)
